Millions of voters deliberately back one party in national elections and another in European elections to better match their views, according to new research from the University of Surrey. In a study published in Politics and Governance, researchers argue that this behavior is not random and that it is a strategic response when voters feel their usual party does not fully reflect their beliefs.
