This Chairman Turns 100 in September. His Company’s Stock May Be Worth a Look.

Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett turns 91 on Monday, but he isn’t the oldest board chairman among sizable public companies.

That distinction likely belongs to George Joseph, the founder, chairman, and controlling shareholder of Mercury General (ticker: MCY), a California auto insurer with a market value of $3 billion. Joseph turns 100 on Sept. 11 and remains active in running the company along with CEO Gabe Tirador.
