Footage of Michael Schumacher’s son Mick driving the iconic Jordan 191 car has sparked an emotional reaction from fans of the legendary racing driver. Sky Sports ran footage of Mick taking the helm in his dad’s first Formula 1 car. The green Jordan 191 launched the career of Schumacher, meaning it was an emotional moment for his son Mick.
The video ran during a break in the Belgium Grand Prix, which was red-flagged amid rainy conditions on the track.
The wet weather has affected much of the racing weekend at Spa-Francorchamps.
Mick, who is an F1 driver in his own right, took the car his father, Michael, first raced in F1 during a special test at Silverstone arranged by Sky Sports F1 in July.
The moment also comes during the 30th anniversary of Michael’s famous maiden F1 test.
Emotional fans paid tribute on social media, saying: “Watching the docu on Michael Schumacher’s debut at the #BelgianGP, and the Jordan 191 reminds me of just how beautiful F1 cars once were.”

Another fan tweeted: “That feature on Michael Schumacher’s ‘91 car with Mick Schumacher driving was so lovely. My eyes may be as damp as Eau Rouge from it.”
Others added: “The SkySportsF1 feature with Mick Schumacher driving the Jordan is very good. Bit emotional! #KeepFightingMichael.”
One fan tweeted: “It really is special to see the son of Michael Schumacher racing in formula 1.”
Another responded: “Such a delight to watch Mick Schumacher driving his father’s Michael Schumacher’s 191 Jordan. Michael started his F1 career 30 years back from this car at Spa.”

Ahead of today’s race, Mercedes tweeted: “30 years ago, Michael Schumacher made his F1 debut here in Spa.
“Thank you for forever being a part of our history, Michael.”
F1 echoed this: “#OnThisDay 17 years ago… Michael Schumacher achieved his seventh world title, fittingly at the Belgian Grand Prix.
“And now, his son lines up for the 2021 edition of the race.”

The clip comes ahead of a new Netflix documentary set to be released on September 15.
Back in June, the streaming giant announced that a documentary was in the works about Schumacher’s life, and was blessed by Schumacher’s family.
Mick himself features in the film, alongside other family members like wife Corinna, brother and fellow F1 driver Ralf, and his other now-grown child Gina-Maria.
The seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher sustained a severe head injury from a skiing accident in 2013.
He was placed in a medically-induced coma for several months before returning home in 2014.
However, his health has remained a closely-guarded topic restricted to his immediate family.
